PJS 701T is one of a pair of Bedford SB5’s, which were purchased new in September 1979 along with its sister vehicle PJS 700T, and were built with 40 seat Marshall Bodies, they were the first Army type buses built in Britain by Marshall. Both buses were registered under Mitchell’s sister company of Western Lewis Coaches. Both buses were purchased by D.H.M. MacIver trading as Hebridean Transport, Island Road, Stornoway in November 1983
BWG 650B photographed here at Cameron Terrace, Lochs was unique in Britain, Owned by Lochs Motor Transport it is the only Albion VK41L to have operated in Britain. The VK41L had a front-mounted Leyland engine and this one, with Alexander Y-type body, was originally a demonstrator running for Alexander (Midland)
386 FGB is an ex-MacBrayne Bedford VAS 1 with Duple (Midland) body. New in 1962, it passed to Highland Omnibuses in 1970 as that operator gradually took over the bulk of MacBrayne’s bus operations. It was bought by Lochs Motor Transport in 1973, and served them until 1982
JJS 444 a Bedford SB, with a 42 seat duple body, was purchased in June 1961 by Mitchell’s of Stornoway, distinctive registrations were favoured by Mitchell’s. It was bought by Lochs Motor Transport in 1973 and is pictured here at the garage and filling station at Cameron Terrace, Lochs
NHH 414W is a Ford R1114, 53 seat with a Duple body, was new to Messenger, Aspatria 1981, was purchased by Lochs Motor Transport in March 1984 and was mainly used for tours
UST 3T is one of a pair of Ford R1114, which were purchased by Lochs Motor Transport in 1987, along with it’s sister vehicle UST 2T, they were built with 49 seat Duple bodies, were new in 1979 to Midland Scottish, UST 3T is photographed at Portnaguran Pier, which is in the Point district of Lewis
DLS 357V is a Leyland with a 53 seat Alexander body, was new in 1979 to Highland Country, and was purchased by Lochs Motor Transport 1997
R917 HTW is a Dennis with a Plaxton body, and was purchased by Lochs Motor Transport in March 2004, it proudly carries the name Eilean Leodhais which is Gaelic for the Isle of Lewis, it is used for school and service work and private hires
